Students

This is Damion Coomes.
He is in his senior year of high school in Woodbury. His youthful experience with cello lead to his current interest in violin! Damion is about to finish Book 2 in the "All for Strings" method series. 75 minute private lessons seem to be just right for this quick learner! We review what he has practiced at home, and then we take a look at the new material that he will attempt for the next week.

Next time I'll work on my background scenery! What you don't see here is my two year old climbing up the refrigerator shelves!

This is Hanna Durdin.  She has wanted to play the violin for the past year.  Finally, this fall, we put together a class of kids who all expressed interest in learning how to play!  Hanna is a 2nd grader at Campus School with my son Jack.

This is Kiana Haynes.  She is also a 2nd grader at Campus School with my son Jack.  She learned about our violin class from her friend Hanna and decided to join us!  She is a quick learner!

This is Morgan Murdock.  I know Morgan from our Crossfit gym.  She comes with her dad who trains and coaches with us.  Morgan is insightful and always comes ready to learn! She is a 5th grader at the Discovery School and a part of our violin group class.

This is my daughter, Sophie.  She is a 1st grader at Campus School.  We have had a violin waiting to be played for year now!  Finally, because of the interest of other friends, mom is teaching her how to play, too!

This is Ethan Morgan.  He is 5 years old.  He wants to learn how to play the violin and the guitar.  So we are working on the violin right now. (I do not know how to play the guitar)  :) As a 5 year old, we are focusing on form and small movements with the bow in our private lessons.  I.e we are spending more time on the rhythms than we are learning whole songs.  It will come, though! And Ethan is doing a fabulous job paying attention and focusing and following directions!

Here is my son Jack with sister, Sophie.  He is a 2nd grader at Campus School.  He is a fast learner!  I first attempted to teach him with his own 1/16 size violin at age 2!  We did a bit, and then a few years went by...I then got  him a new violin and we did a bit, and then a few years went by... I now have him a new violin and we are finally completing songs!  I think this is partly why parent's send their kids to other music teachers...  Poor fellow, mom kept dropping the ball.  He would have been in book 2 by now!  But our group class is so much fun and keeping him motivated!
